Freight, Returns, and Warranty Policy
Merritt Quality Policy
Merritt aims to consistently provide high-quality, reliable products and services that meet or exceed customer expectations. We are committed to continual quality improvement through programs that empower each employee to perform their job correctly.
Freight Policy
- Shipping Terms: All products are shipped FOB point of origin. Ownership transfers to the dealer upon pickup by the carrier.
- Customer Responsibilities: Inspect all products upon receipt before signing any paperwork from the carrier. Packaging must be removed for inspection. Note any damage on all copies of the carrier’s paperwork. If the product is significantly damaged, refuse delivery and notify both the freight company and Merritt immediately.
- Freight Damage Claims: Reimbursement for freight damage is through the carrier’s freight claim process. Photos should be taken, and the product held for inspection by the carrier.
- Will Call: After 10 business days, orders in Will-Call without a scheduled pickup will be shipped Prepaid and Add (PPA) by Merritt Aluminum Products. Please ensure timely pickup arrangements to avoid additional shipping charges and potential delays in receiving your order. Delivery Refusal
- Once an order has shipped, it cannot be canceled. If a delivery is refused, Merritt Aluminum Products Company is not liable for any freight charges incurred. The customer is responsible for shipping charges.
Return Goods Policy
Authorization Requirements:
All returns must be pre-approved by Merritt and have a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA).
Return Conditions:
- Product older than 120 days is not eligible for return.
- Returns must be in saleable condition in the original packaging.
- Items not in original condition, altered, or used will not be considered for credit.
- Obsolete or custom-built products are not eligible for return.
- Promotion purchase products and custom-configured products are not returnable.
Restocking and Fees:
- Orders that have been palletized, pulled or prepared for shipping are subject to a maximum 20% restocking fee if cancelled.
- Accepted returns are subject to a restocking fee of up to 20%.
- Return shipping costs are the responsibility of the dealer.
- Additional fees may be assessed pending final inspection.
- Re-packaging costs will be added if the product is not returned in the original packaging or is damaged in transit.
Return Process:
- Obtain an RMA from Merritt and include a copy with the returned product.
- Return the product in the original packaging or suitably packaged to avoid damage.
- Follow the shipping instructions provided with the return authorization. Any additional charges due to non-compliance will be the customer’s responsibility.
Special Circumstances:
- Product returned due to Merritt’s error will be credited in full.
- Unauthorized returns will not be considered for credit.
- All purchases are final and not returnable after 120 days from the original purchase date.
Warranty Policy – Class 8 Heavy Duty Product
- Merritt Aluminum Products Company products (excluding Fenders) are warranted to be free from defects in material and workmanship to the original purchaser for 1-year from the date of purchase.
- Exclusions: This warranty does not cover accessories and component parts manufactured or supplied by others, damage due to accident, abuse, misuse, corrosive environments, improper installation, or mishandling during shipment. The warranty is void if Merritt installation instructions are not followed or Merritt mounting kits are not used. Powder Coat on Class 8 Heavy Duty Products does not qualify for warranty. Remedies: The warranty is limited to the repair or replacement of the product at Merritt’s discretion. Merritt assumes no responsibility for installation or removal costs.
Fenders Warranty:
- Aluminum Rolled and Formed Fenders & Quarter Fenders are pro-rated as follows:
- 0 – 90 Days: 100%
- 91 – 180 Days: 70%
- 181 – 270 Days: 50%
- 271 – 364 Days: 20%
- Over one year: 0%
- Stainless Steel Rolled Fenders & Quarter Fenders are warranted 100% for the first 90 days, and 0% thereafter.
- Where applicable, Merritt products must be installed with a Merritt mounting kit to Merritt specifications.
- Liability: Merritt Aluminum Products Company shall not be liable for injuries, property damage, or incidental, consequential, or commercial losses.
Warranty Policy – Light Truck Product
- All Light Truck products come with a limited lifetime warranty.
- Coverage: Merritt guarantees that Light Truck Products will be free of defects in material and workmanship for the life of the product. If covered products fail due to a manufacturing defect, Merritt will repair, replace, or issue credit for the original purchase price at our discretion.
- Conditions: Only original, unaltered, and unmodified items are covered. The product must be purchased from an authorized dealer and registered for warranty at the time of purchase.
Exclusions:
- Merritt is not responsible for direct, incidental, or consequential damages, including damage from scratches, normal wear and tear, or natural breakdown.
- Powder Coat finish is covered for one year on Light Truck Products only.
- Products identified as “Scratch and Dent” are excluded from cosmetic claims.
- No individual is authorized to make exceptions or warranty resolutions on behalf of Merritt.
- Warranty claims should be promptly addressed to prevent escalation.
- Return Process: For warranty evaluation and potential repair, products may need to be returned directly to Merritt with pre-approved return authorization. Return freight charges are the responsibility of the product owner.
