Freight, Returns, and Warranty Policy
Merritt Quality Policy
Merritt’s goal is to consistently provide high quality, reliable products and services that meet or exceed the expectations of our customers. We will actively pursue ever improving quality through our programs that enable each employee to do the job correctly.
All products are shipped FOB point of origin. Ownership of the product transfers to the dealer upon pick up by the carrier. The dealer’s only recourse for reimbursement of damaged goods is from the freight carrier. It is the customer’s responsibility to inspect all products upon receipt before signing any paperwork from the carrier. Packaging must be removed for inspection. All of this is very important. It is the customer’s responsibility to inspect for any hidden damage before the freight carrier leaves your facility. If you suspect damage, open immediately for further inspection. Even if the package appears slightly damaged, write “Package Damaged” on all copies of the receiving paperwork when you sign for delivery. If the product is significantly damaged, you may refuse delivery of the shipment. The freight company and Merritt should be notified immediately so we can address the damaged product and also take care of shipping replacement product as quickly as possible. Once product has been received by the customer, any reimbursement for freight damage will be through the carrier’s freight claim process. Photos should be taken and the product held for inspection by the carrier.
Please keep in mind that once an order has shipped, it cannot be cancelled. In this situation, if you refuse to accept delivery of an order. Merritt Aluminum Products Company will not be liable for any freight charges incurred. By refusing a delivery the customer agrees to be responsible for shipping changes.
Merritt Return Goods Policy:
All returned merchandise must be pre-approved by Merritt Aluminum Products Company Product older than 120 days is not eligible for return. Return shipping costs, to the specified Merritt warehouse, are the responsibility of the dealer. A return goods authorization must be acquired from Merritt and a copy of the document returned with the product. All returns are subject to a standard 15% restock fee. Additional fees may be assessed pending final inspection. Parts must be received in resalable condition. The product should be returned in the original packaging or packaged in a manner as to not incur any damage during transit, in this case re-packaging costs will be added to the restock fee. Items not in original condition, altered, or used product will not be considered for credit. Obsolete or custom built products are not eligible for return. Product that is being returned due to an error by Merritt Aluminum Products Company will be credited in full. If product is returned without authorization it will not be considered for credit. The return authorization will include shipping instructions that must be followed. If shipping instructions are not followed any additional charges will be the customer’s responsibility.
